DIATYPIA WITH OIL PASTELS

<p>This is a practical course dedicated to mastering diatipia, an amazing technique that exists at the intersection of drawing, painting and printmaking.</p> <p>Drawing in this technique is an experimental process full of unpredictable turns and accidents. We will learn how to tame these accidents and turn them into powerful expressive means.</p> <p>We will establish a lively dialog with the material and the situation on the sheet, and stop being afraid of white. The possibilities of oil pastel are enormous - it can be transparent and dense, textured and smooth, juicy and restrained. We will deal with them in order to eventually reach new creative possibilities. In general - we will learn to see possibilities.</p> <p>We will train attention and accuracy, and at the same time learn to love spontaneity and balance between control and trust in the process.</p> <p>The course will definitely not be about copying nature or teaching any academic approaches to drawing. Our goal is to actively interact with the material and work with sensations. Not conformity to rules, but exploration.</p> <p>We will reduce expressive means to a minimum, emphasizing the main thing, but at the same time we will use them freely, excitedly and liberally.</p>
